This fascinating 8 night tour will allow you to sample the beauty that is Oman.  Sample traditional Arabian atmosphere and hospitality in it's capital city Muscat, with its colourful souks and the beautiful Grand Mosque which dominates the skyline.

From the sounds and sights of the city, continue your journey through this ancient land with the stunning and desolate wilderness of Wadi Beni Auf, and the imposing fort of Nakhal set amongst date palms and which evokes memories of a bygone age.

Explore the largest fort in the Arabian Peninsula at Nizwa, and have another chance to haggle in the markets and souks before spending a night camped out in the majestic desert where the night sky has to be seen to be believed.

No trip to Oman is complete without the natural wonder that is the turtle breeding grounds, and this is included within the tour with a trip to Sur where the white pristine sands are home to these magnificent creatures. Watch in wonder as the baby turtles scuttle to the ocean, to begin their new life, beneath the world oceans.

Depart from London Heathrow airport for your overnight flight to Muscat on board Oman Air
 
Day2
Upon arrival at Muscat International Airport, you will be met and greeted by your local English speaking Driver/representative and transferred to your hotel check in (guaranteed early check in)
You will enjoy the rest of the day at your own leisure.

0800hrs   Breakfast at the hotel
0900hrs   Start the tour and first stop is at the Grand Mosque, the only mosque in Oman where visitors are allowed inside. It has the biggest 1 piece handmade Iranian carpet in the world. The interior walls are made of carara marbles.

Notes: Grand Mosque is open from Saturday to Wednesday from 0800 hrs to 1100 hrs only. Ladies visiting the mosque are required to wear scarves, cover their hair and wear full sleeves. All clients should not wear shorts, beach wear or sleeveless outfits or transparent clothes.

Visit Bait Al Zubair Museum for a glimpse of Oman's glorious past Exhibits include information regarding the Al Busaidi dynasty; with portraits of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said and various other rulers. There are also four galleries on the ground floor that exhibit excellent examples of khanjar (Omani dagger), male and female attire, traditional swords and firearms, antique jewelry and household articles.
Drive to the Old Muscat (where guests can see the Al Alam Palace, the official palace of His Majesty and also the 2 Portuguese forts, Jalali & Mirani). Proceed to the Muttrah Souk, one of the most fascinating souks in the Gulf.

Muttrah Souk in the heart of Muscat is a traditional market where guests can find fine souvenirs of local handicrafts from Oman. Enjoy the mixed smells of frankincense, perfume oils, fresh jasmine and spices as you stroll along the narrow alleys.

OVERNIGHT IN MUSCAT

0800 hrs   Breakfast at the hotel
0900 hrs   Visit Bilad Sait, Wadi Bani Auf, which is renowned as one of the most fantastic tourist locations. Wadi Bani Auf leads to the famous Snake Gorge. The name 'Snake Gorge' refers to the serpentine effect created by the mountains snaking throughout the Wadi. .

Drive to see the magnificent Nakhal fort, situated on a rocky outcrop surrounded by date palms.

Continue to the hot springs of Al Thowarah on the far side of the village. The stream runs full of clear spring water, the source of which is the clefts in the mountainside. The water is warm and soothing.

Proceed to Nizwa.

OVERNIGHT IN NIZWA
 
Day5
0800 hrs   Breakfast at the hotel
0900 hrs   Proceed to Birkat Al Mouz, an oasis that's home to many trees including bananas and date palm and an old village that wanders up the side of a small mountain. Guests will be able to see the falaj system, the ancient irrigation system used in Oman in the past. In Nizwa visit the traditional souk where the guests can find Omani silver crafts and other local handicrafts. Also visit the famous Nizwa Fort, built in the 1668 and one of the most visited monuments in Oman. It is also the biggest fort in the Arabian Peninsula.

Visit the ruins of the ancient village of Tanuf and then proceed to the villages of Bahla & Jabrin where guests can see the Bahla Fort & Jabrin Fort respectively. Bahla Fort has been listed by UNESCO as one of the oldest places of heritage in the world. It is currently under major restoration and not possible to enter. Lunch in Local restaurant

Visit the impressive Jabrin Fort where guests can see fine examples of Islamic architecture with wooden inscriptions & paintings on the ceiling.

OVERNIGHT IN NIZWA

0800hrs   Breakfast at the hotel
0900hrs   Proceed to Wahiba via Izki and Sinaw, where you will enjoy a picnic lunch. In the Wahiba Sands, guests can enjoy dune driving and see the majestic sand dunes that are 200 kilometers long and 100 kilometers wide and soar up to 150 meters and appear in a variety of hues from orange to deep amber. This includes stop in a Bedouin campsite.

DINNER AND OVERNIGHT IN Camp

0900 hrs   Visit Wadi Bani Khalid, one of the most beautiful oasis in Oman. It is a lush valley oasis with date palms & pools surrounded by steep cliffs, where you will enjoy a picnic lunch.

Proceed to Sur, short stops in the city of Sur before proceeding to Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve

After dinner at approx. 21:00 hrs drive to Ras Al Jinz beach to watch the green turtles. The beaches of the peninsula of Ras al Hadd, which stretches between Ras Ar Ruwais and Khuwr Jaramah, attract the largest number of Green Turtles nesting in Oman. This is one of the only few large nesting aggregations of Green Turtles known in the Indian Ocean.

OVERNIGHT at RAS AL JINZ TURTLE RESERVE

0700 hrs   Breakfast at the reserve
0800 hrs   Proceed to Muscat via Qalhat Visit Bimah sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater with blue-green water at the bottom. Stop at Fins beach, a beautiful white sand beach then proceed to Wadi Shab and photo stop in the Wadi. Cross to the next Wadi, Wadi Tiwi, where guests can enjoy the crossing on shallow water. The sight is remarkable with its lush green plantations and water flowing all year round. Picnic Lunch Included

OVERNIGHT IN MUSCAT

Breakfast at the hotel, you will be met by your local English speaking driver/representative and transferred to Muscat International Airport for final flight to London Heathrow on board Oman Air.
